Chapter 2<\/h2>\n

Divorce, I learned, is mostly paperwork interrupted by grief.<\/p>\n

There were no courtroom speeches. Nobody threw wine in anybody\u2019s face. Two lawyers exchanged emails about bank accounts while Daniel moved from my house directly into Rachel\u2019s apartment.<\/p>\n

He insisted through his attorney that the relationship had only become romantic after our separation.<\/p>\n

Maybe that was true.<\/p>\n

I stopped caring enough to investigate.<\/p>\n

We sold the house because neither of us could comfortably keep it alone. Daniel took his car. I kept mine. We divided savings.<\/p>\n
